Quercus Cottage & Studio
A place to stay, and a place to print.
Quercus Cottage & Studio is run by Jo Austen, an artist, printmaker and writer.
We offer accommodation in the Kentish countryside of Challock, along with art and printmaking workshops for all levels – including zinc plate etching, aquatinting, colour prints and collographs.
We invite you to come and stay at our cosy cottage, or to book in a printmaking workshop and create a piece to take home with you – or both. For availability and bookings, please click here.
About Quercus Cottage
Quercus Cottage is a Georgian farmhouse built in 1760, lovingly restored and renovated. Guests will have their own self-contained home over 3 storeys, with a private kitchen and bathroom, amenities, and separate entrance (please see our Accommodation Gallery for more details).
The house has an eco-friendly heating system, run on infrared panels. We sit atop the North Downs, and on a clear day you can see across the open countryside, the orchard, and the North Kent coast.
Quercus Cottage is pet-friendly – and you might meet our warm & wise dog Rune, a Korthals Griffon.
The art studio is adjacent to the house, and courses and workshops can be booked along with stays.
Quercus is perfectly placed for visiting Kent’s many and varied attractions. Canterbury, Whitstable, Leeds Castle, Sissinghurst Gardens, Chilham Castle, and Port Lympe Safari Park are all within a thirty minute drive.
